So princessofgeeks is doing an interesting talkie/thinkie series of posts on SG-1. One subject that really caught my eye was about cloneJack and what he was up to. I just happened to be in the throes of writing a cloneJack for sg_fignewton's Alphabet Soup on this very subject. I wanted to wait until after the fic posted before I waxed lyrical on said subject.

I think Jack O'Neill is in high school, a different school than the one in which he started. His first school didn't work out because he struggled with trying to fit in and his therapist thought he should wipe the slate clean and start again.

Yes, I did say therapist because I don't think the Air Force simply turned him loose on an unsuspecting world. He is a dangerous combination of an adult's memories and training and scars within a body that has not yet reached its physical peak. If he wished, he could do a lot of damage.

Not MacKenzie because even though Daniel might be able to forgive and forget, it's harder for Jack. Plus he simply doesn't trust MacKenzie.

He has to agree not to contact SG-1. His therapist believes he cannot move forward if he continually tries to connect with his old life. Jack wondered why none of them (especially Daniel, who was only like his best friend) contacted him until he realized the therapist had warned SG-1 that it was best for cloneJack if they let him get on with his life.

There are times he misses Daniel and Carter and Teal'c with a pain that's like someone ripped off his right arm. There are times he feels like smashing his truck right through the front gate of the SGC. Twice, he parked at the Shell station on Citadel so he could watch Daniel go through the Starbucks drive-through. He didn't dare stake out any of Carter's hangouts; he was pretty sure she'd pick up the tail.

They let him keep his name since it was fairly common and he pointed out the 'other Jack' was really a Jonathan.

He put up with the surveillance and the phone taps because he knew that was the price he had to pay for his somewhat limited freedom. He was fairly certain some people had wanted him 'contained' some place where he wasn't a danger to the world and from which he'd never emerge.

He already had an escape plan in place in case things got too hot. In the all-too-brief time he managed to escape from the SGC, he'd raided the stash adultJack had hidden in his house. CloneJack now had the contents of the safe stashed: a clean gun with the number filed off, lots of ammo, a lock pick kit, a good fake passport (he'd already exchanged the picture) and several thousand dollars. He could be out of the country in a matter of hours if he felt threatened. He'd disappear and they would never find him. Ever.
